Jim Heupel is primarily a nature and landscape photographer, living in Fredericksburg, Texas. Retired from the United States Air Force, he is now a professional photographer following his love of photography and nature ... especially grizzly bears, his favorite. He has traveled to every continent, as well as above the Arctic Circle and below the Antarctic Circle. He is a member of the North American Nature Photography Association and the Texas Photographic Society. He uses Canon digital professional camera bodies and lenses.

How does a nature photographer get involved with photographing people...in WWII Marine uniforms? Perhaps because of his military background and Vietnam service, perhaps because of having been to Midway, Guam, the Philippines, and Okinawa and having lived in Japan, perhaps because of his love of Marines and the hospitality they have shown him throughout many years of service, and for certain because of a debt of gratitude for those men who fought in the most difficult of conditions for our freedom so many years ago.
